Nintendo Spaceworld was an event hosted by Nintendo to show off the latest games coming to their systems. It was mainly held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Japan. Spaceworld was held every year except for 1998 from 1989 to 2001. Up until 1997 it was known as Shoshinkai.
At Spaceworld, there were demos set up that attendees could play. EarthBound 64 was shown at three different Spaceworlds (‘96, ‘97, and ‘99) but was only playable at the ‘99 Spaceworld. It could be found at the Nintendo 64 Software Corner. Fourteen TV screens were set up at the booth. Ten of the screens were for playing the demo on and four of the screens that sat above those screens played the Spaceworld '99 trailer. Some scenes played from the trailer seem to be extended as images show parts of these scenes that aren't in the trailer. It's unknown if any completely unseen scenes that weren't in the trailer were shown on these TVs.
There are two images showing the wait time for the demo was 30 minutes and one photo showing it was 45 minutes at some point. After waiting in line, players got 10 minutes with the demo. The demo ran on a stock Nintendo 64 with no 64DD attachment, further confirming the switch from disk to cart. The cartridge in the N64 was a rewritable development cartridge with a label that showed the EB64 logo on a white background. In front of each console was a board that showed the game's controls. EB64 was the only game at the show which featured headphones. The game design team at Creatures insisted the demo wouldn't be playable without sound due to the rhythm mechanic in battles.
